{"id":301,"date":"2014-01-24T13:39:26","date_gmt":"2014-01-24T13:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zacharybaiel.com\/blog\/?p=301"},"modified":"2014-01-20T13:55:16","modified_gmt":"2014-01-20T13:55:16","slug":"who-are-you-america-modern-monologues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zacharybaiel.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/24\/who-are-you-america-modern-monologues\/","title":{"rendered":"Who are you America? &#8211; Modern Monologues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Internet is amazing.\u00a0 We all know that.\u00a0 In one of my recent meanderings, I came across a series of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/CENTERSTAGEMyAmerica\">50 monologues commissioned<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerstage.org\/\">Center Stage<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Baltimore\">Baltimore, Maryland<\/a>.  Being a recent transplant, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kwame_Kwei-Armah\">Kwame Kwei-Armah<\/a>, along with his team, asked the question &#8220;Who are you America?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I was happy to see that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neogregallen.com\">Greg Allen<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/neofuturists.org\/\">Neo-Futurists<\/a> was selected as one of the 50 leading playwrights.  His piece is a lovely dance through the connected, tangental consciousness of the American fabric.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8ZkdF1QiIZY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I have since watched dozens of others.  Some hit very well and resonate strongly, others seem to fall flat.  Obviously, this project is not immune from subjectivity.  Regardless, a very fascinating study in writing, directing, acting, filming, and editing.<\/p>\n<p>I recommend the consumption.
